Adjust Blogger Follower Gadget Size

  • The Follower gadget, to which Google Friend Connect allows you limited access, with regards to design, has two areas of size control - width, and Rows of Faces.

There are also, only two ways to attach the Follower Gadget - via the default Blogger 'Add a gadget', which gives you only optional color changes, and no size-control options, or, you can design your own gadget on the above mentioned Google Friend Connect site, which does!

The default Blogger 'Add a Gadget' Follower, looks like this ...

    The basic Follower gadget...

Option to change colour, only ...

The Google Friend Connect site gives you that flexibility in size control. You do, however, either have to:

    • Select the Width and Rows of Faces, when designing, and before you apply the code (although this can be edited, anytime), or
    • Find the location in the script, after you have applied the code to a html/Javascript gadget - and sometimes it may be trial and error, when adding to your blog sidebar, for instance. You only have so much space to use!

    The Width...

    The code ...

    The Rows of Faces ...

If you want a narrow, but long gadget, or a short, but wide, gadget ... you can now design it that way.

Remember, the Width adjustment is in pixels, and they are very tiny, so a 20 pxl adjustment isn't very big. eg: The long skinny gadget in the next image was set at 150 pxl.

The Rows of Faces adjustment, is a depth of field adjustment - in other words, a setting of 2 Rows, gives you a short, fat, (270pxl) gadget, and a setting of 5 Rows, gives you a long, gadget, as in the following image...

Follower - great to play around with!
